Arnold was born in Austria in 1947. He was an elite level athlete at an early age. By 20, he was a world class competitive bodybuilder. He would become the youngest person to ever win the Mr. Universe title. Schwarzenegger’s first brush with fame was as a sports star. Schwarzenegger is one of the top bodybuilders of all time.
Arnold would conquer the sports world, and his next goal was to conquer Hollywood. Arnold had to improve English and battle a thick accent as he tried to land film roles in America. He also was a unique looking actor, with his muscular bodybuilding physique. Schwarzenegger made his feature film debut in HERCULES in New York. His first big break came in 1982’s CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Conan turned Arnold into a leading man in Hollywood.
Arnold would quickly become an A list actor with his role in 1984’s The Terminator. His career would be defined by his role as the murderous robot, The Terminator. Arnold would then appear in successful sequels to Terminator, Predator and True Lies. Schwarzenegger would become one of the biggest movie stars of all time. He was not just an action hero, he also had the ability to do comedy and deliver memorable one liners. Arnold had a unique charisma that fascinated audiences across the globe. His films have grossed more than 3 Billion dollars worldwide.
In 2003, Arnold would shock the world when he would become the 38 Governor of California. Nobody could have envisioned this position for Arnold when he was a bodybuilder or movie star. As Governor, Arnold championed combating global warming and improving California’s infrastructure. Schwarzenegger saw value in serving his country. America had given him many opportunities and he believed he had the ability to give back in an impactful way.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has defined the odds multiple times in his life. He became a sports icon in the bodybuilding world. He would follow up that success with a career in Hollywood, a career that is one of the all time best in the entertainment industry. He would then turn to public service and become the Governor of California. Arnold is one of the most fascinating figures to ever live. He is consistently taking on challenges and succeeding.
