Some of the Best Food-Inspired Sneakers
Sneaker companies are always looking for their next best-seller, something that will get people talking about their product. One idea that never seems to fail is food. There are so many cool food collaborations out there, here are some of the highlights.
New Ideas
In 2025 we got a new and unconventional Adidas Gazelle sneaker. This was the Sneaker Junkies x adidas “Clam Chowder” Gazelle. This shoe was created to celebrate two decades of Sneaker Junkies and paid homage to the brand’s New England area roots. The Gazelle was designed with a white upper, grey stripes, green laces, and a clam graphic on the back of the ankle, all symbolizing different components of the chowder.
Ice Cream
In 2020 Nike partnered with Ben & Jerry’s to release the Ben & Jerry’s x Nike SB Dunk Low “Chunky Dunky”. The name came from a play on Ben & Jerry’s iconic banana and chocolate flavor “Chunky Monkey.”
The design of this iconic collab is just as fresh and fun as the ice cream brand. The official colorway is called White/Lagoon Pulse/Black/University Gold, but the look is much more intricate with cow print structural detailing, a rainbow inner, a cartoon skyscape along the side, and a dripping yellow Nike symbol.
Meal
Nike obviously has not been new to the concept of food and shoe collaborations. In 2016 they released the statement-making Nike SB Dunk ‘Chicken and Waffles’. This high top was completely made up of a waffle textured material with golden brown soles and a syrupy Nike swoosh. These are definitely statement-makers.
Wasabi
In 2019 Asics went the condiment route on their END. x ASICS GEL-Lyte III ‘Wasabi’ collaboration. The shoe is almost completely light green suede but also includes peach and charcoal grey accents as nods to wasabi’s counterpart pickled ginger as well as the rocky terrain the root originates from.
Butterscotch
In 2016, New Balance partnered with J. Crew to release the J. Crew x New Balance 997 ‘Butterscotch’ sneaker. This collaboration reimagined a classic New Balance sneaker into a new and exclusive butterscotch colorway. It is also quite the luxury item, made from leather and costing a hefty amount compared to your average sneaker.
