Joe Keery, From Stranger Things to Music

Joe Keery, From Stranger Things to Music

Joe and Djo

Joe Keery has gained a large following. Fans loved his character Steve Harrington in Stranger Things.

This role was his big break. It did not take long for people to fall in love with him as well. After his debut in Stranger Things in 2016, fans have kept a close eye on his work.

In 2020, Keery starred in the gruesome thriller Spree which quickly became a favorite among his followers. In 2021, the actor played a comedic role alongside Ryan Reynolds in the action-packed film Free Guy. In 2025 Keery can be seen starring in Tame Impala’s “Loser” music video. That is not the only experience he has in the music industry though.

Music

Keery first started making music with his band Post Animal as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist from 2015-2018. Since then, the actor has taken on an alter ego to separate his music and acting careers.

Known as Djo on his records, the multitalented artist has released three psychedelic, synthpop albums titled “Twenty Twenty” (2019), “Decide” (2022), and “The Crux” (2025).

His song titled “End of Beginning” from his second album went viral on social media and earned him a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, gaining the artist a significant amount of recognition for his records. The song also has gained over 1.84 billion plays on Spotify since its release.

The artist went on tour (Back On You World Tour) to promote his new album towards the beginning of 2025, bringing his former band Post Animal along with him to open. His latest album was also nominated for the 2026 Grammy Awards in the category “Best Album Cover”.

The Future

Keery is definitely someone to watch in Hollywood, with upcoming film and music projects that many fans are highly anticipating.
