It is safe to say that one of the standout shoes of 2024 was the sleek and stylish adidas Gazelles. Gazelles were first introduced in the 1960s.

They were inspired by running shoes. In the 1990s, they became popular as streetwear. This year, they had a second revival.

Styles Effect

It seems like one notable pop culture icon was ahead of this widespread comeback though. Harry Styles is famous for his many music hits and unique style. He has amazed the public with his fashion choices since his One Direction days.

Recently, Styles traveled the world on his very successful “Love on Tour” from 2021 to 2023. In 2022, he made a noticeable change to his tour wardrobe.

He chose to replace his famous heeled boot with the more casual Adidas Gazelle. He often shows off new colors each night. Fans nicknamed the shoes "Satellite Stompers" after he debuted a popular dance move. He often performed this move during his song "Satellite" on tour.

Most of the shoes Styles wore on his 2022-2023 tour were from the Adidas x Gucci Gazelles collection. He also wore some custom Adidas Sambas.

The History of the adidas Gazelle

The Gazelle from adidas is one of the most legendary sneakers ever. It paved its legacy within the world of sneakers thanks to its sports heritage and high quality construction. It has been an integral part of the shoe world and adidas for decades now.

Built For Performance

adidas has always put an emphasis on not just style, but performance. That mixture has allowed the company to strive. The Gazelle is the result of training shoes, built for performance, turning into something that worked as a style icon.

Leather shoes from adidas in the 1960s are what led to the creation of the Gazelle. adidas would upgrade those leather designs in 1966 when they created the first Gazelle shoe. The use of suede for the Gazelle made it unique.

The Gazelle would be utilized for vibrant and fresh colorways. It would quickly become a popular choice as a training shoe in the 1960s and 1970s. The appeal of the adidas Gazelle would be international.
