The Phoenix Suns guard was recognized by Nike with his own signature sneaker in 2024. The newest colorway of the Nike Book 1, titled “Hike,” releases at Shoe Palace this April 20.
Hike
The latest iteration of the Nike Book 1 is inspired by Booker’s love of the outdoors. Booker has gone on record saying he has a true passion for the desert, so of course it made sense for a Book 1 silhouette. The Nike Book 1 “Hike” will be released in dark stucco green with silver details in a rattlesnake pattern.
Book 1
The Nike Book 1, besides having a really cool name, is one of the more exciting basketball shoes released from Nike in a while. The shoe features a stacked Cushlon 2.0 foam midsole with a rigid TPU sidewall for added support, with a top-loaded Nike Zoom air bag in the heel. The outside has a workwear inspired canvas and twill upper adds durability. There is a suede collar and genuine leather across the forefront. The shoe has a deliberate broken in feel. The heel was inspired by a book spine, with numbers referencing chapters in an ongoing story.
Inspired By Icons
The Nike Book 1 took inspiration from a variety of iconic sources. It is inspired by the Air Force 1, the Blazer, and Air Jordan 1. Automobiles also helped shape the creation of the shoe. The 72 Chevy Blazer K5 also played a role in the crafting of the Book 1. Storytelling and legacy played a major part in the making of the Book 1.
