The History Of The Nike Kobe 6

The Nike Zoom Kobe 6 debuted in 2010. It is considered by many Kobe sneaker enthusiasts to be one of the best Kobe signature sneakers in the Nike x Kobe line. Learn more about the 6 below.

The Six

Eric Avar designed the Nike Kobe 6. It has a textured upper that is inspired by snakeskin. This honors Kobe’s Black Mamba mentality and alter ego. It has a dual layer memory foam sockliner, a Phylon injected midsole, and Zoom Air in the heel and forefront. The Nike Kobe 6 has a tighter and more secure fit than previous Kobe models. The 6 has some of the most memorable Kobe colorways, including the iconic Nike Zoom Kobe 6 “Grinch.”

Nike, Kobe & Gigi

The most important Kobe 6 is the Kobe 6 Protro Mambacita Sweet 16. Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, died on January 26, 2020. A helicopter crash took the lives of nine people, including Bryant and his daughter. The Kobe 6 Protro Mambacita Sweet 16 honored the life of Gianna Bryant. Vanessa Bryant donated all the proceeds from the shoe to the Mambacita Sports Foundation. The shoe, named after Gianna’s nickname, “Mambacita,” was a huge hit with sneaker fans. The Kobe 6 Protro Mambacita Sweet 16 was released at Shoe Palace in 2022.

Mamba Sports Foundation

The Mamba Sports Foundation was renamed the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation in honor of Gigi. Kobe Bryant is one of the all-time greats when it comes to the NBA and sports. Gigi was on the verge of becoming a basketball superstar herself. Tragically we will never know just how great Gianna could have been. But the life she lived in just 13 years, was inspirational.

Impact Of The Nike Zoom Kobe 6

The Nike Zoom Kobe 6 is without a doubt one of the most popular Kobe models. It is beloved for its style, fit and the iconic colorways it has inspired.
