Sabrina Ionescu and the Nike Sabrina 1

Ionescu was born on Dec 6, 1997. She is from Walnut Creek, California. Sabrina would play college basketball for the University of Oregon. The guard was a nationwide standout for Oregon. She was unanimously voted the 2020 AP Women’s Basketball Player of the Year. Sabrina was a record setter while at the school. Ionescu is also the only player, male or female, in NCAA history with 2,000 career points (2,562), 1,000 career rebounds (1,040) and 1,000 career assists (1,091).

WNBA

She was taken with the first pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft. The New York Liberty, one of the marquee teams in the league, would select Ionescu. Sabrina is a knockdown shooter, and an incredible all-around talent. In her third season in the WNBA, she was voted All-WNBA First team. She also would win the WNBA Skills Challenge in 2022. New York is not an easy place for any athlete to play in, but Ionescu has lived up to the hype with her style of and personality.

In March 2023, Sabrina became a Nike signature athlete. She was the first woman to have a unisex collection for Nike. Her Sabrina 1 line of shoes have been a success with both men and women. NBA athletes, WNBA stars, along with male and female college players have been seen in the signature model. The Sabrina 1 is currently one of the most popular sneakers on the market.
