All About Bad Bunny
Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, known as Bad Bunny to the world, is one of the hottest topics in the music industry today. He is absolutely dominating modern Latin pop and has been for a while. The singer was first discovered through SoundCloud in 2016 by DJ Luian and was signed to a record label.
His songs began topping charts right off the bat with his first single reaching spot 19 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. The next year (2017) he collaborated with fellow Latin pop singer Karol G with their collaboration reaching spot 10 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
He had two more successful collaborations in 2018. First was “I Like It” with Cardi B and J Balvin which reached spot number 11 on the US Billboard 200. And then “Mia” with Drake which reached spot number 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Following those two releases came his debut album X 100pre at the end of 2018. This album was voted 447th in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. He later released a collaborative album with J Balvin in 2019 titled “Oasis” which reached spot 9 on the Billboard 200.
Influential
In the beginning of 2020 Bad Bunny released one of his most influential albums yet, YHLQMDLG which stands for "Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana" (I Do What I Want). It debuted at spot 2 on the US Billboard 200.
The singer continued to break records throughout 2020 with his third album El Último Tour Del Mundo becoming the first completely Spanish language album to reach spot number one on the Billboard 200. This album won him “Best Urban Music Album” and “Best Rap/Hip Hop Song” at the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards. He also appeared on the cover of Playboy’s digital magazine and was the first male to ever do so solo.
Accomplishments
His list of accomplishments is extensive. In 2021 he appeared on the Time 100 as one of the most influential people in the world and in 2022 was awarded Artist of the Year by Billboard. His 2022 tour became the highest-grossing tour by a Latin artist in history. More recently in 2025 the artist released his 7th album titled Debí Tirar Más Fotos, he was also announced as Super Bowl LX’s halftime show performer for 2026.
Transcending Talent
Although his music is primarily in Spanish, the world’s love for it transcends language barriers. The Puerto Rican singer has been Spotify’s Top Global Artist for four years in a row now which is record-breaking. He was also Spotify’s most played artist in 2025 with 19.8 billion streams. His upcoming halftime show is sure to be one for the books.
