A Mob Hit

The show was about a mob family conducting business at a strip club in New Jersey called the Bada Bing. The creator, David Chase, had difficulty finding a network to air The Sopranos. This was despite his previous success with other shows.

The creator, David Chase, had trouble finding a network to air The Sopranos, even though he had success with other shows. The television networks felt the show was too dark. But HBO did not have that problem. It was the kind of edgy content they were looking for.

Inspiration

Chase grew up in New Jersey, where The Sopranos takes place. His upbringing helped to inspire the show. Tony Soprano’s mom and therapist were also inspired by Chase’s real life mom and therapist.

He was moved by what he saw going on in America in the late nineties. He felt the country was being taken over by greed and capitalism. He thought even a Mob Boss, like Tony Soprano, would find it reprehensible. His experiences and views were instrumental to developing the tone and focus of the series.

Tony

Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini, is the star of the show. He is an antihero who struggles with the reality of his work, and his family life. He is a man with a heart and conscious, but he has a dark side, a side then has him taking part in a world of crime and murder.

The character would inspire shows like Breaking Bad. Shows that revolved around characters that were bad guys. The Sopranos was great because it showed Tony as a flawed man and explored what makes him do bad things. Gandolfini was brilliant in the role and humanized Tony in a way that was awesome to witness.
