Phillip Brooks, known by his ring name, CM Punk, started out wrestling on the independent circuit at an early age. In 2005, he would sign with the WWE. He would win multiple championships during his time with WWE, and he would win them quickly. CM Punk would quickly be considered the best wrestler in the world.
Anti Establishment
Punk’s character is rooted in anti-establishment. He is a trash talker that is never afraid to speak his mind, whether he is a heel or a babyface.
Another interesting part of Punk’s persona is him living a straight edge lifestyle. Which means he does not drink or do drugs. He avoids any kind of dependency.
Retirement
Punk would retire from the WWE in 2014. He grew frustrated with the leadership and the direction his career was going.
He would then pursue a career in the UFC. Not finding the success he wanted there, he would join AEW.
AEW is a rival wrestling organization to WWE. The company, which started in 2019, was looking for Punk to lead them into the future.

Unfortunately, Punk would have issues with the leadership, and fellow wrestlers, of AEW. He would leave the company on bad terms and his departure was a shock to everyone.
Which would be even a bigger shock is that CM Punk would return to WWE. A move he swore he would never make.
In 2023, CM Punk came to the WWE, a move that sent the wrestling world into a frenzy. Since his return, CM Punk has solidified himself as one of the most popular wrestlers on the planet.
