The History Of The Under Armour Curry 1

The Under Armour Curry 1 was the first signature sneaker for NBA icon, Stephen Curry. Curry would debut the shoe as he was heading towards his first NBA Championship in 2015 with his Golden State Warriors squad. Learn more about the Curry 1 below.

The One

The Curry 1 has a padded mesh tongue lined with synthetic suede that breathes and offers top of the line protection for your foot. There is Charged Cushioning® made from a foam upper and a multidirectional herringbone-style outsole. The mid cut design gave Curry extra protection for ankles. Curry’s ankles have always been an issue for him throughout his career.

Chef Curry

Stephen Curry is not only one of the top players of all time - he is also one of the most important. Curry changed the game of basketball with his shooting ability. Long range shooting, the three point shot, is now the focus of most team’s offense. His greatness when it comes to shooting the ball has helped to influence not just the NBA, but the basketball world. Whether it’s college, high school, or just a pickup game at the park, the influence of Curry is evident. Kids today want to shoot like Curry, the same way they wanted to dunk like Michael Jordan in his day. There has never been a player quite like Stephen Curry.

Potential Reached

Before signing with Under Armour, Steph showed great promise as a player for the Golden State Warriors. The guard struggled with injuries early in his career. It was believed by many that Stephen would never reach the height of his potential. Soon after signing with UA, Curry began to blossom into the player everyone thought he could be. Injuries became less frequent, and far less of a concern. In his signature UA sneakers, Curry would win back to back MVP trophies in 2015 and 2016. His Golden State Warriors would also achieve success under his leadership, winning four championships, in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

Under Armour would experience remarkable growth as a company with Steph as its signature athlete. Chef Curry helped UA establish themselves as players in the basketball world. UA consistently makes quality sneakers for the NBA star. Shoes that feature the latest technology and designs.
