Sanders was born on July 16, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas. The legendary star began playing football at a very young age. Surprisingly, he started his career as a defensive player in high school.
Sanders dreamed of being a running back, all his football heroes played the position. During his senior season in high school, he finally made the transition to running back. He would shine in the position, but his size would limit the offers he would receive from colleges.
Oklahoma State University was one of the few schools that offered him a scholarship. Sanders accepted their offer.

1988, his Junior Year, was a historic one for Sanders. That season is considered the greatest offensive season in the history of college football. He recorded over 320 total years per game.
