Plum is from Poway, California. Her father was a multi-sport star at San Diego State. Her mother was also an athlete at UC Davis. Athleticism was in Plum’s blood. She would play basketball for La Jolla Country Day School. Plum would receive National attention for her game. The star even found time to play volleyball in high school.
University Of Washington
Kelsey Plum would attend the University of Washington where she set the all-time scoring record in NCAA Division 1 Women’s basketball with a total of 3,397 points.
Pro Career
The San Antonio Stars, who later became the Las Vegas Aces, would take Plum with the Number 1 pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft. Plum faced injuries early in her career but was still able to earn the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year award during her first few seasons in the league. In 2022 she had a breakout year. She would help the Aces win its first championship. The guard made her all-star team debut that year and brought home the All-Star Game MVP Award. In 2023, the Aces would go back to back and win another WNBA Championship. Kelsey would be an important piece for both championship squads.
USA
Team USA has also benefited from Plum’s presence. She was a member of the 2018 Fiba World Cup team that earned the crown and helped the 2022 squad retain it. She also led the USA Team to Gold at the 3x3 tournament at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
