Basketball Legend, Grant Hill
Young fans today probably have not heard of Grant Hill. They may know him as an NBA commentator, but do they remember him as an NBA star? They might not know that if it were not for injuries, Grant Hill could potentially be in the current GOAT conversation.
College Ball
Grant Hill played college basketball for one of the most historic college institutions, Duke University. He was an all-around talent that could do pretty much everything on the basketball court.
He could score, pass, and defend. Playing for Duke, he also learned how to win. He was a part of two national championship teams.
Duke was a team people either loved or hated. They were always making waves in col-lege basketball.
Hill was a less controversial figure, than his teammates like Christian Laettner and Brian Davis. Hill was a soft-spoken athlete, who let his game do his talking. Despite that, he had an aura and flair on the court that attracted fans.
NBA
In the 1994 NBA Draft Grant Hill was taken with the third pick by the Detroit Pistons. The expectations were high.
He had the talent, charm, and good looks to make a real mark on the court and off it. Grant Hill proved in his rookie year he could play professional basketball at a high level. He also proved he was a fan favorite and that he could make his mark as an endorser.
He would eventually leave the Pistons for the Orlando Magic. There was a lot of hype in Orlando, after he was a great player for Detroit. Tragically, his time in Orlando was lim-ited and disappointing due to a string of injuries. He would also play for the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA.
Legacy
Injuries hurt the career of Grant Hill. He was never able to reach the heights everyone thought he would. His talent is impossible to overlook. There is no telling what he could of accomplished in the NBA if he would have stayed healthy
